American Dream Education Campaign

Polls show that students (ages 15 to 21) feel unprepared to face the complex world of the 21st Century. Critical knowledge and essential skills seem to be missing from American education. Although almost all efforts are being focused on motivating high school students to enroll in college only 1/3 of the 16 million high schoolers of today will end up with a bachelors degree. On average they will be $20,000 in debt and the most popular starting jobs (teaching, sales, management trainee) pay $31,000. And that's the good news.

Over 20% of high school students will NOT graduate! Moreover, 57% of them will have at least one divorce and 40% will never gain a net worth in excess of $10,000. So that's the picture. Our education system is producing millions of under educated, ill-prepared young adults saddled with debt, unrealistic expectations, intense job offshoring competition, poor relationship skills, unsure how to pursue happiness or satisfaction.

The American Dream Project will distribute free learning materials to high school guidance counselors and career centers of America's 22,000 high schools, and 4400 colleges and universities. We are also building a student centered web site which will provide the knowledge and learning tools students need to seize responsibility for their future.

Here's how you can help:

1. Volunteer to teach a class at your high school or college. Have each student take the free Dream Life assessment. Show the Reclaiming Your American Dream PBS show, follow the discussion guide and have students write short papers on what their future dream life is. Challenge them to make a difference now.

2. When you purchase the complete 3D Package that will help you identify your design, clarify your desires and make choices that lead you to your Dream Life, a complete 3D set will be donated in your name to a high school or college of your choice free of charge.

3. Make a donation. With our education partner, the Graduates Club Foundation, we are designing and building a student web site with learning tools, assessments and information students need to be prepared for the future. All resources on this web site will be free. 100% of your donation will go to the website and learning resource development. And we will keep you informed of our progress.
